Transportation Authority Seeks to Fill Advisory Positions

The San Mateo County Transportation Authority is soliciting applicants for vacancies on its Citizens Advisory Committee. The 15-member, volunteer CAC acts as a liaison between the public and the board of directors, providing valuable input to the board on the projects and programs in the Transportation Expenditure Plan.

The CAC meets on the Tuesday preceding the first Thursday of the month at 4:30 p.m. in San Carlos. Members of the CAC must be residents of San Mateo County. Interested persons can download an application from the TA Web site at www.smcta.com, call 650-508-6223 or e-mail cacsecretary@smcta.com.

Deadline for submitting applications is Monday, April 12, 2010 at 5 p.m.

The TA is an independent agency formed to administer the proceeds of a countywide half-cent sales tax. The sales tax, originally approved by the voters in 1988, was reauthorized by 75 percent of the San Mateo County electorate in 2004. Last year the TA adopted a five-year strategic plan that provides a framework for guiding programming and allocation decisions.
