The San Mateo County Transportation Authority (TA) is calling on community members to help shape the future of county-wide active transportation through the Active 101 project. This initiative, part of the broader 101 Corridor Connect program, aims to improve walking, biking and rolling infrastructure near U.S. Highway 101.
Active 101 is designed to identify specific projects that will enhance active transportation options within a quarter mile of U.S. 101, focusing on safe crossings and corridors adjacent to the highway. As part of the TA’s commitment to creating vibrant communities with safe, connected, sustainable and inclusive mobility options, the agency is seeking community feedback on which types of active transportation infrastructure are most important to San Mateo County residents.
"Active transportation is key to creating a more connected and livable county," said TA Director of Planning and Fund Management Patrick Gilster. "So many needs have been identified near U.S. 101 through various local and regional efforts and we want to hear from our residents about which of those critical needs in our communities we should help address first."
To gather this feedback, the TA has launched an online ranking tool that allows residents to weigh in on various active transportation needs and rank them according to where they see the greatest benefits. The TA will use the community’s input to prioritize future investments in projects and develop preliminary concepts for priority projects that enhance safety and mobility along the U.S. 101 corridor. Community members are encouraged to participate by [Date].
The San Mateo County Transportation Authority is committed to making active transportation safe, reliable, and accessible for all, and this feedback will play a crucial role in shaping future projects.
